Mark Karlins is the writer of five picture books, including Starring Lorenzo – and Einstein Too, Music Over Manhattan, and Salmon Moon. His sense of humor, wacky characters and belief in the potential of all children to go beyond themselves are hallmarks of his work. He has published two books of poetry for adults, one of which is The Courtyard of Continuous Returning, an interesting entry point into Karlins’age-spanning audience of imagination.
He lives on a former dairy farm near the salt marshes of Massachusetts with his wife and a very fat cat named Zoe. His wife is a dancer and a writer. He also has two grown children, Jake, a teacher and musician, and Becky, a painter. Like many of his characters, Mark is from New York City and is often amazed by the countryside in which he now lives, where fox, deer, turkey and packs of coyotes roam about.
