Andrea Olsen, author, is an Associate Professor of Dance at Middlebury College in Vermont. She also directed the dance program at Mount Holyoke College, and the Dance artists Schools in Northampton, Massachusetts, and Seattle, Washington. An MFA graduate of the University of Utah in Dance, she has taught anatomy and kinesiology since 1972 in workshops and colleges. She has worked with colleagues Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in experimental anatomy, and Janet Adler in Authentic Movement since 1979, while developing an approach to hands-on teaching of anatomy for college students with Caryn McHose. As a dancer, she has choreographed over fifty works and toured internationally for twenty years with Dance artists and the Dance Company of Middlebury. Most recently, she has completed solo performing tours in China, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Holland, and Greece, presenting work developed in collaboration with musician David Darling, and has traveled in Kenya and Tanzania. Thornes Market in Northampton, Massachusetts is her creative home, and she continues to teach and perform there on a regular basis.
