Founded in 1977 by George Quasha and Susan Quasha, Station Hill is a project of the Institute for Publishing Arts (IPA), with a mission to challenge and expand conceptions of human possibility. Station Hill Press publishes works of poetry, poetics, translation, and experimental prose. IPA also produces works of experimental performance and sound art. Located on the Hudson River, Station Hill is open to the public by appointment.
George Quasha, Publisher, is an artist, poet, and musician working across mediums to explore principles in common within language, sculpture, drawing, video, sound, installation, and performance. Solo exhibitions of axial stones and axial drawings include the Baumgartner Gallery in New York (Chelsea), the Slought Foundation in Philadelphia, and at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz. This work is featured in the published book, Axial Stones: An Art of Precarious Balance, Foreword by Carter Ratcliff (North Atlantic Books: Berkeley, 2006).

Susan Quasha, Co-Publisher, is an artist who has worked in photography, assemblage, collage, ceramics, typography, poetry. Exhibited work includes The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art (SUNY New Paltz), Kleinert Gallery (Woodstock, New York), College Art Gallery (SUNY New Paltz), the Blum Art Center (Annandale-on-Hudson), the Open Studio Gallery (Arnolfini Art Center, Rhinebeck, New York), Open Mind Gallery (New York City), The Studio (Hopewell, New Jersey), Earthworks (New York City), etc. She is co-founder of Station Hill Press, where she has been principal book designer for three decades. Currently she is Art Director of Performing Arts Journal Publications. Performance/readings of her poetry at Deep Listening Space (Kingston, New York) and at the Rhinebeck Center for the Performing Arts (Rhinebeck, New York). Publications include “William Blake: The Infernal Method” (article in Book Arts Magazine), An Active Anthology (Contributing Editor, Sumac Press), Body Against Body: The Dance and Other Collaborations of Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane (Co-editor, Station Hill Press); poems (from “Somebody Tore a Piece Out of the Sky,” unpublished) in Ultimate Pavement Saw 7 and others in Lost Paper (Station Hill Press). Quasha studied at The University of Connecticut (Storrs) with the poet Charles Olson, plus graduate work in English Literature (1971).

Sam Truitt, Director, was born in Washington, DC, and raised there and in Tokyo, Japan. He is the author of Vertical Elegies 6: Street Mete (Station Hill, 2011), Vertical Elegies: Three Works (UDP, 2008), Vertical Elegies 5: The Section (Georgia, 2003) and Anamorphosis Eisenhower (Lost Roads, 1998), among other books. He is the recipient of a 2011 Howard Fellowship, two Fund for Poetry grants and a 2002 Contemporary Poetry Series Award from the University of Georgia.

Charles Stein, Contributing Editor, (born 1944 in New York City) is the author of thirteen books of poetry including a new verse translation of The Odyssey (North Atlantic Books) and The Hat Rack Tree (Station Hill Press). Merabi Uridia, Accounts Manager, was born in the then-Soviet-occupied Republic of Georgia in 1959. He attended four years of engineering training at the Georgian State Polytechnic University in Tbilisi and graduated as a Technological Engineer, with a specialty in Factory Mechanics, from Georgian Technological University in Sukhumi. He worked for years in a tea factory in Ochamchire in Georgia. In 1995, he and his family immigrated to America. Fluent in Georgian, Mengrelian and Russian, he has worked for Station Hill since 1996.
Sherry Williams, Project Manager, is an artist and art director who has worked in the publishing field for over thirty years. As an art director and owner of her own business she worked with Oxford University Press, DK, Sterling (among others) as well as various book packagers developing titles in the trade, educational, and specialty markets. Some of the series developed were in collaboration with The Society of American Historians and The George Eastman House celebrating the history of the camera. Her twenty plus year collaboration with George and Susan Quasha includes designing books, websites, video filming, and editing. She was the photographer, art director, and designer for Axial Stones: the art of precarious balance by George Quasha. She holds a BFA in Fine Arts from Western Michigan University.
